The Home Condition Report

View full sized Page from Home Condition Report

The Home Condition Report was originally intended to be the cornerstone of the

Home Information Pack. It was created to give buyers an idea of the condition of properties they were interested in before they even viewed them. The HCR is presented in a clear, standardised format, using as far as possible non-technical language, backed up by condition ratings. Although the HCR was paid for by the seller, it was designed to be an unbiased report which could be relied on by sellers, buyers and lenders. It was effectively an MOT for domestic property.

The Home Condition Report was closely bound in with the legislation for the Home Information Pack. It is still available, but with the demise of the HIP it seems unlikely that many will be commissioned.
